SKs in our Assembly have been quite busy this past month.
Healing Mass, St Daniel, the Prophet. This mass was concelebrated by Auxiliary Bishop, Edwardo Nevares and several priests from St Daniels. We had many SKs there, joining a total of 17 SKs, to form an Honor Guard for Bishop Nevares.
Veteran’s Day, St Patricks. The St Patrick’s parish has a special celebration for Veterans, co sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council. We had 7 SKs in regalia to present and retire the Colors!
Feast of the Immaculate Conception. On December 8th St Patrick’s Knights of Columbus led a Rosary after the 6pm mass. SKs in regalia opened this event with a procession accompanied by the St Patrick’s banner of the Blessed Mother, Ladies of the Knights with flowers to honor Mary, and with a box of prayer requests. Fr Eric Tellez, the Pastor, celebrated mass using our Assembly’s Vocation Chalice. Bob Julien, the Grand Knight of the St Patrick’s Council, wearing regalia, opened the ceremony and then SKs in regalia and Ladies of the Knights led the 5 decades of the Glorious Mysteries. Thanks to Laura Lee and Brother Nick Gaudio for all their efforts to make this event a success! Brother Gaudio took the Vocation Traveling Chalice home and he and Laura Lee will pray for vocations. What an honor to have this Chalice that has held the Precious Blood of Jesus in their home. I would appreciate it if other SKs and their families make plans to bring this Chalice to their home, display it prominently, and in turn pray for vocations!
Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. St Joan of Arc. On Sunday, December 12th, 8 SKs in regalia, many for our Assembly, turned out at 4:30am to form an Honor Guard leading the procession to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The church was packed with parishioners devoted to her. After conclusion of the rosary, these SKs led the procession out. Kudos to Drew Porro and the St Joan of Arc Council which sponsored this celebration! By the way, the Council and parishioners made 79 dozen tamales and they were delicious. Later in the day 5 SKs again formed an Honor Guard leading the procession opening the 12:30pm mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Once again the mass was packed. The SKs again led the concluding procession after mass.
In addition, on October 10, 2010 7 SKs from our Assembly participated in the magnificent Diocesan Rosary Sunday event at the Phoenix Convention Center. 5 took part in the regalia procession opening the celebration and 2 served as ushers! This was the 35th annual Rosary Sunday sponsored by the Arizona Knights of Columbus and on that day Mary was honored under her title "Mary Help of Christians. Each of us were deeply moved by the great love and devotion to Mary of the 6,000 participants!
